From Motorbike Trips to Team Transformation

When I first started thinking about Harmony Retreats, it all began with an Ikigai exercise. Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means “a reason for being,” found at the intersection of four key elements: what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.

As I explored these elements, a few things became clear:

  • What I Love: I’ve always been passionate about outdoor adventures, motorbiking, and discovering local cultures. I also love bringing people together and seeing the bonds that form in shared experiences.
  • What I’m Good At: Over the years, I’ve developed strong skills in project management, team facilitation, and creating structured environments where teams can thrive. I’m also skilled at planning and organizing events that combine both fun and learning.
  • What the World Needs: I  recognized a growing need for team-building activities beyond the typical, offering something deeper and more impactful. Many teams struggle with communication, trust, and cohesion, and there’s a real need for solutions that address these challenges.
  • What I Can Be Paid For: The corporate world increasingly invests in team-building and leadership development as it recognizes its value to its organizations. I saw an opportunity to create something that aligns with these needs while staying true to my passions.

With these insights in mind, the initial idea was born: a motorbike trip with a stop at a local cheesemaker, a relaxing evening at a resort, and a workshop the next day. It was a fun and appealing concept that combined what I love and am good at. However, I soon realized it was too niche—how many executives actually ride motorbikes?

But this idea laid the foundation for something much bigger. I began to think more broadly: How could I create experiences that resonate with a broader audience while staying true to my passion for bringing people together in meaningful ways? This led to the birth of Harmony Retreats. In this place, I can help teams build trust, improve communication, and develop lasting connections that translate into real-world success. Expanding my focus beyond a motorbike trip, I developed a comprehensive approach that included engaging activities, educational workshops, and cultural experiences. Harmony Retreats was born out of a desire to create meaningful, transformative experiences that bring teams together and equip them with the tools they need to thrive long after the retreat ends.
